Givenchy SS'15 x Handmaidens Tale

Thought I'd share this 'different' look I tried out last weekend. Having recently watch The Handmaidens Tale, I felt inspired by the fully covered costumes - there was something very dark but yet conservative about their uniforms. As you may know, I designed this corset last year (inspired by the amazing corsets from the Givenchy SS'15 collection) and found it very fitting for this look. TREND ALERT: Suede String Choker

Hello,

I'm not really one to jump on the bandwagon of trends (lol I kid!) But this suede string choker trend has my name written all over it. As a lover of Bardot tops/dresses, I can't think of a better way to accentuate and display my clavicle! Despite multiple efforts to find a decent UK seller, they've proven difficult to find. Fear not, dear readers. I've got you covered! I sourced a few styles and colours to fit everyday chic-ness.

DIY Bag

Hello,

Today I share a quick blog post on how I customised my bag to give a more playful look. I originally bought the bag from Forever 21 in Amsterdam, but as I already have quite a collection of serious/formal looking bags, I thought it would be fun to explore creativity and spice this one up. So here we go......



STEP 1: CLEAN THE BAG

As I'm going to stick things to the surface, it's important to make sure it's clean. I simply used a dry cloth to wipe the surface and get rid of any dust/residue.


STEP 2: IRON PATCH TO FABRIC

The ultimate goal is to stick the ice-cream patch to the bag. But as the patch has a slippery/waxy backing, this may prove difficult. Therefore, I ironed the patch to a random piece of black fabric (I used jersey) to make it easier to stick to the bag.


STEP 3: CUT OUT PATCH

I then used tailoring scissors (much easier to cut fabric with!) to cut the patch out of the fabric.


STEP 4: APPLY GLUE TO PATCH

And then the fun begins!! I used a hot glue gun to apply glue to the back of the patch.


STEP 5: STICK PATCH TO BAG

I then gently stuck the patch to the bag and smoothed it down.


STEP 6: MARK POSITION FOR CRYSTALS

Using a ruler and pencil, I (tried to) marked the position for the crystals. To be honest I tried to do this whilst watching some youtube vlogs and ultimately messed up the pattern - hence the random order!


STEP 7: STICK CRYSTALS TO BAG

Using  specialist adhesive and a tweezer, I stuck the Swarovski crystals to the bag.


STEP 8: ADD POM-POM BALL TO BAG

For an extra dose of fun, I attached a fur pom-pom ball to the side of the bag.

VOILA.....

Hello,

Wow, it's really been a hot minute since I last posted! I don't even know where to begin to explain! At some point during my approach to the age '25' I kinda had a weird 'quater life crisis'. I really had to put everything into perspective and decide my main goals/ambitions for life. Though I really enjoyed planning outfits and shooting blog posts, I honestly don't believe the amount of effort I put into it actually helps me accomplish my goals.

I love art and fashion, so it's no surprise the sheer joy I get from fashion design! I've decided to instead use this blog to concentrate on this side of me and kinda document my journey in this industry. I really do feel bad about taking such a big break, but I honestly needed some space from social media (i.e the world!) lol.

But I'm back and so excited to be blogging again! London Fashion Week starts tomorrow and danm right I'm attending! :P

I think it's finally safe to say that winter is here (Brrr!) For today's look I chose to wear this JEN NOIR top, but spiced it up with a detailed belt and red-monochromatic look. I struggled on deciding which coat to style this with, although my heart desired a white coat, my mind advised otherwise. I felt a black coat would be the best accompaniment to balance the colour tone of the look and of course go with my sunglasses! Thank you for passing by, I wish you a wonderfully warm week ahead!

Camel Coat

Hello,

Today I'm super duper pleased to show you all the first top from my collection! It features a lace overlay with eyelash-lace neck detail. It's so weird to think of something, design it and actually have it in full body before me in a matter of weeks! I chose this clutch bag I bought in Greece (and totally forgot about) as it complements the tone of the coat. A camel coat was so overdue in my life, do you like? Africana

Hello,

I'm super duper pleased to share with you a first look at the second skirt from my collection. As I am of African descent, I possess an integral connection with the various prints and patterns that can be found on this fabulous African fabric we call Ankara. I made a last minute decision to really go for the tribal look by using some leftover fabric to make the headband, which I learned how to tie here. I'm still super busy working on the line; I hope to start selling sometime in August. Thank you so much for passing by, enjoy the Sun this week!

Skirt By Me!

Hello,

This skirt is another one of my designs, I call her 'SASHA'! I usually experience great difficulty with high-waisted skirts as my hips are quite wide in comparison to my waist. But as this skirt is made to measure, it fits perfectly! The skirt also features a small slit at the back which (secretly) allows great freedom with movement. I thought this outfit would be best paired with a masculine coat for some edge appeal. Thank you for visiting and have a wonderful week!
